severe rib pain when breathing

A while ago I noticed my rib pops where it connects to the sternum.  It isn't my floating rib, but I was told it was just cartilage rubbing to make the popping affect. Well sometimes it would hurt when I was breathing, but only lasted a few minutes. It happened again today but its been lasting all day. I can't take a deep breath when I need to because it almost feels like something is puncturing my lung when I take too deep of a breath. And that makes me yawn to get the oxygen needed without the breath. I don't think its broken either, it doesn't hurt any other time besides taking a deep breath. But if I twist my body, it pops. Could it just be cartilige or something? Will it go away? Any answers would be greatly appreciated, its really bugging me.

I had a similar problem last year.  I also had upper back and neck pain so doctor sent me to physical therapy.  Turns out that I had an intracostal muscle in spasm.  I never even knew that there were muscles between the ribs. The therapist discovered the problem by sticking his finger between all my ribs.  I hope your problem turns out to be as simple.

14 is pretty young. i forget to what age exactly, but in kids bones and joints look different than in adults.
for example, to identify a possible fracture in a kid. ud have to take xrays of left and right (arm for example) to compare the way the bones look, to identify abnormalities.

anyway what im trying to say. wat you have might just be age related and the fact that ur growin and ur body is adjusting.

but if its bothering u a lot. you can go see an ortho doctor and take a simple xray.

good luck
