I have severe upper abdominal pain. After reading others questions it looks likes I need to add more symptoms. Hope this helps. All tests (CT scan with and without contrast, xrays, ultrasound, colonoscopy, endoscopy, blood work) come back normalNormal saline flush and healthy. Where or what do I do next? Please help.
Thanks for writing to the forum!
Upper abdominal pain can be due to acidity. Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. The endoscopy can come back normal.
The other possibility is that it is a referred pain from heart. Hence you must get an EKG and an Echo. Certain lung problems and chronic cough can also cause pain in the upper abdomen. Also pancreatic pathology should be ruled out.
Hope this helps. Do discuss this with your doctor and get yourself examined. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
