sharp back pain , hands numb

Yesterday, my 15 year old daughter  was taking a shower, and all of the sudden she said she felt very dizzy. She said the dizziness lasted a  long time. Then she felt a sharp pain run up back. Following the feeling of numbness on her hands.
Yesterday was the first time she has eaten pork and beef, in about 3-4 months. She has only been eaten chicken, turkey, and fish lately. She cut out beef and pork. But yesterday my mother made posole(mexican soup or stew) and this has beef and pork in it. She had  very little  of both meats in her bowl but the meat cook in the soup and she did have a full bowl it's broth.
Could this have caused what happen to her in the shower or could this be something else?

It could have but not as much as dehydration. I am a vegan and when I do eat meat im puttin something I'm my body that it isn't use to processing so it can take up ALOT of energy to do that causin the dizzyness. Dehydration can also cause them both if her body was reacting to a spasm in her back and a pinched nerve can do it too do keep an eye on her and if the pain gets worse I would say Advil and possibly a chiropractor to loosen a pinched nerve and it will relase so much more! Definately push fluids! Wish you the best

I think that your daughter is low on something this could cause dizziness and if she hasent been eating beef she might not be getting enough protein.

I can easily see how the beef and pork could have caused what happened here. Beef and pork play in to the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS), the part of the nervous system that helps calm down your automatic functions. If you go without red meat for a while---such as beef---your PNS will get used to not having to process those enzymes in the liver and intestines. When adding them back in, especially if they have spices and such on them, you can have nervous system problems.

Another possibility is that something was wrong with the meet. Pork can have problems when undercooked, or maybe it had problems before you even bought it. Food posioning is deffinately possible here.

Also, your daughter could have a sudden allergy to one of these meats. The human body can develope allergies to red meats very easily. A friend of mine has this exact problem with pork and beef, and becomes partially paralyzed if she eats it. I myself have PNS problems and have to watch what kind of beef I eat.

Still, I would call the doctor and see what they say. While this could just be a reaction to having red meat for the first time in a while, it coudl also be a sign of something serious.

Hope this helps!
