shoulder bursitis

Would shoulder bursitis cause pain in the neck as well as the upper arm?  Neck pain feels like a crick but much worse.  Hard to turn head to side

Have exact same symptoms. Started about a year and a half ago and has gotten progressively worse. Neck very stiff and sore, especially when turned to either side. Pain in shoulder left shoulder joint radiating down upper arm, less on right side. Have been going to chiropractor, taking prescription pain meds. nothing is working. If anyone finds something that works, please post.

Hi

Thanks for the post! How are you now?

Normally shoulder bursitis causes localized pain in the shoulder area. However if there is impingement (nerves getting trapped) of nerves between tendons then the pain may spread to arms. In your case it could be spondylitis of the cervical vertebra. There could be involvement of first and second cervical vertebra causing the crick sound on moving your head. The pain of spondylitis too can spread to arms.

This can be diagnosed by X-rays and MRI of cervical spine. Please consult an orthopedic specialist. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining and various tests. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
