sinus pressure

How do you relieve sinus pressure??? I feel like my head is going to explode. I've never had this kind of cold before and it's driving me crazy. I have class tomorrow and need to concentrate, since I have an exam coming up. Plus my professor isn't real nice about students missing class. Help??

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Take steam twice a day, at bed time and first thing in the morning. Take OTC decongestant and anti inflammatory. Drink plenty of warm fluids like soups, warm lemonade, herbal tea etc. Consult a doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!

For non-medicinal help, you may try either taking a nice, hot steamy shower and just breathe in that steam deeply - it sometimes will help relieve sinus pressure.  You can also kind of "recreate" the shower "scene" by putting some hot water into a bowl or pan and tenting your head with a towel while leaning over that bowl and breathe in the steam that way.

Another option is a neti pot - it's gentle on the sinuses because it's just salt water that you use to rinse out the sinuses, so there's not usually that "rebound congestion"' that you can get if you use a decongestant type nasal spray.
