sprain or strain?

hello!
about two weeks ago my left index finger started to hurt.
the pain starts in the inner side of middle joint, only when i touch/push on it or move it. there's no significant swelling and no discoloration or bruise.
for a week i was taping it, i cut it accidentally and decided to tape it top to bottom.
now i took of tape and all (the cut healed) but i still have the pain.
the weirdest thing is that it started suddenly w/o direct injury (unless knitting-something-like can strain tendons).

i'm puzzled what that could be (not that it annoys me), just curiousity since i can't find appropriate explanation on other med websites.

thanks.

Thank you!

Yesterday I did some stretching and now seems that pain is gone.
I've previously done stretches on strains and few times it helped.
Also I did some research and found it more likely could be just strained tendon.
But I just felt better ask for advice. I'm quite prone to sprain/strain injuries and I've been worse.
The abductor muscle strain was extremely painful but thankfully last only for one night which was the worst over several years. Also I've sustained quadricep mucsle strain during sprint distance run in highschool and it happened second year too until I found out it was due to warm-up's and I stopped doing them, that helped.

I've had strained or sprained ankle at very young age but strangely it healed over night despite terrible pain after the injury. I don't know if that's normal or not.
Recently I strained the same ankle but now all what's left is mild tenderness at times.

Well I do realise I'm weird but I can't help.

Anyways thanks for advices.

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Is there a possibility of a splint inside—the healing happened over it. It can also be due to a pus pocket inside. The third possibility is a joint pain due to reactive arthritis or rheumatoid arthritis flaring up after injury.
Please consult your PCP for primary examination.
Take care!
