stabbing pains in joints related to fibromyalgia

hi
i am 18 years old and since the start of 2009 have been depressed and had fibromyalgia, in the last 2 months ive noticed i have been getting pains in mostly my hands and arms but sometimes my legs. the pains come and go in short and sharp spells. the pains are stabbing pains all over my hands and occasionally on my arms, and last for about 30 minns-and hour. but then go away for an hour but come back. im not sure if this is related to a previous illness or what, o weather it is worth dragging myself into the doctor again.

Fibromyalgia just *****..  Nothing else to describe it is there..  I am 46.. I have had it since my early 20's..  It will move around and change areas or feel like it is everywhere on some days..  I have found that gentle stretching, meditation and warm to hot soaks are best.  Memory foam beds are wonderful..  flexeril is one of my favorites that I can tell a difference with.  It doesnt make it all go away but it makes it all tollerable..  When I have run out of the flexeril then, wow, I can tell the difference.  a good rhuematologist makes a difference with fibro...  I know if sounds hooky to say be kind to your body but it is true..  I don't think I have ever been "pain free" but am very happy when the pain is ignorable because then I can walk or bike and be active.  and that is good, unless you overdo it..  then you are right back to where you started..

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
From your symptoms alone it sounds like fibromyalgia. On the other hand arthritis or inflammation of joint that moves from joint to joint (migratory) can be due to Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, rheumatic fever, SLE, HIV, Lyme’s disease, sarcoidosis, Whipple’s disease, Henoch-Schnlein Purpura, bacterial endocarditis and gonoccoccal arthritis. Hashimotos thyroidits is another possibility.
Hence you will need to discuss this with your doctor to see whether it is really fibromyalgia or something else.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
