sternum pain - due to fall while running

31 days ago I fell while running very fast-hit pavement with face and chest - black eye, cut hands and for a week i could not hardly drive - i continued to run as forward motions did not hurt that bad.

I continue to have pain when I stand erect and go back as far as i can it feels like i have a basketball size tumor in my chest.

I know this is from the fall - i am an avid runner - 5-10 miles some days - 3 everyday -

my question - I did see a doctor - he listed and felt but did not xray -

does this take a long time to heal and should I have xrays
