suddend nausea and metal taste

by scronie, Nov 11, 2006 12:00AM
I seeking help about what might be my problem. I have been through many test.  What first told that I had systemic mastocytoses.  They after a bone marrow biopsy, it was told no I don't have it.  Thank goodness for that.  I went to the doctor because I was having sudden attacks that started with nausea and then what I decribed as metal kinda taste, then I itch, from my waist up and get flushed with red and jappear to have an allergic reaction.  My head feels like it is swelling and I can only breath out of my mouth.  It takes a couple of hours for it to go away.  When I had the first attack several years ago, the doctor said it was my gallbladder, though they never could find gall stones.   This year in March is when it  starting happening more often.  Again test were done and it was determined that my gallbladder was not functioning.  They took it out and thought  that would stop the trouble.  I did not.  4 days after having it out I had the worst spell ever.   That is when I was sent to and allergist.  I Have high histamine level. She ran all kinds of test.  After a biopsy of the intestines and stomach, is when she was looking at systemic Mastocytoses.  She  ordered bone scan and bone morrow biopsy and said no that it not. She has had me on gastrocrom and 2 histamine blockers.   She told me that I could stop the gastrocrom but to keep taking the histamine blockers.  She does not have an answer for the high histamine level and will check it again in a couple of months.  Please help if you have a clue and what kind of doctor I should see. I do not feel like myself anymore.

Hi,
How are you doing right now? I have soemwhat similar sympthoms and niether bloodwork (gallbladder, pancrease, liver, kidneys) nor imaging (nuclear, US, MRI, CT, colono- and gastro- scopies) helped to diagnose the condition. I have right top abdomen pain, some nausea and metal taste in the mouth.

I am in a simular situation.  I have severe upper right quad pain attacks(front and back), that can last from 1 hr to a week or two.  It is always present but worse at times, but much worse if my rib cage is touched or pressed on.  No correlation to dietary intake.  I am thin, atheletic fit and in my early 30's.  Abdom. ultrasound revealed thickened gallbladder, but no stones.  I have a cat scan tomorrow and another scan in 3 days.  Blood work has elevated pancreatic protien levels, but not sky high, my CBC has been slightly off since 12/07, but again not crazy. Frequent nausea, diarrhea for months, lack of energy, and frequently a strange taste, but no indigestion.  Any clues?  This has been a really long haul, almost a year now.
