I am a 25 year old female. At the age of 16 diagonosed with HSP which caused renal failure in 9 months, kidney joints and GI involvement. Treatment included Solu mederol 1 gram IV 6 treatments in 2 weeks. Prednisone 100mg by mouth daily for 4 months, then 80 mg and so on. Cytoxin (2 treatments) Had a rough course of HSP. Spent 11 months on peritoneal dialysis. Received a kidney, 6/6 antigen from my brother. Developed Oral lichen planus (tongue, gums, cheek) which despite Steroid injection still here 9 years later.
Post transplant would develop joint/muscle pain, fatigue, and vague symptoms. Overall have not felt well. In 2005 following a hospitalization and IV I developed superficial thrombophlebitis in the vein which the IV was in. One week later phlebitis spread to every superficial vein in that arm. A few weeks following it was in my right arm and then in my legs.
The phlebitis would come and go and not associated with IV would be in arms/ legs. Clotting diseases checked and everything comes back normal.
April 25, 2008 was diagnosed with bilateral pumonary embolism. Bil lower and upper lobes. Clotting checked out fine. Started on coumadin. Still having phlebitis and symptoms of more PE's.
Wondering if anyone has had superficial phlebitis and what the cause was. I have been checked for cancer and basically you name it I have been checked. Any ideas?
