undiagnosed illness for 5 years

by mgibby, Sep 10, 2009 07:24AM
does anyone know of  a doctor who will help diagnose and treat suspected lyme disease? I have been suffering an illness that noone can explain or treat for about 5 years. it started in 2004 that i can remember with a rash, bruising on my legs, big purple-black bruises, joint pain, muscle pain and weakness, stomach problems, breathing problems, tingling and numbness in hands feet and joints, and then the mental symptoms started to take over. short term memory loss, confusion, depression, anxiety,  most recently extreme weight loss and so many more. my life has turned into just surviving every day. i have seen dozens of doctors who either dismiss me all together, suspect i am a drug addict,(which i am not) or tell me to take antidepressants. which i did for almost 4 years while all this has been going on, but depression does not explain all my symptoms and i dont consider myself depressed, discouraged maybe, but wouldnt anyone be in my situation? when your health and your life are at stake and noone will listen or help you. if i even mention lyme disease in a doctors office, its like im speaking a foreign language. basically i get nowhere. so if anyone has any advice or can help in any way it would be much appreciated. thanks

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
Well, joint pains with rash can be seen in SLE, psoriatic arthritis, fibromyalgia, polymayalgia rheumatica and chronic fatigue syndrome. Gout, though typically affects the great toe, can cause multiple joint pain with rash. Hashimotos Thyroiditis is another possibility. Hay fever and rheumatoid arthritis too should also be ruled out. Also Vit B, VitK deficiency and deficiency of clotting factors should be looked into. Platelet deficiency should be looked for. Please consult a hematologist.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
