unknown pains in midsection and lower back?

Hi, i just turned 57 last weekend. (august14) . First of all this pain intrusuion started at the end of june. lower back and around where the kidneys are. moved up to my lung and got a sore throat. ok, doc gave me antibiotics and it went away.
a month later, it all came back. got more antibiotics. i took them but they made me feel worse, flu like with no energy. all the while with aching going on around my chest cavity, lower back. and a burning sensation around my kidneys. the antibiotics got finished but i couldn't see a change. when my urine and blood work came back the doc said my kidneys and liver were fine. but (as usual) my triglycerides were 525 and overall cholesterol at 221. it has been much worse i promise.

so she gave me Tri-cor(cannot take lipritor or heavy statins) as Tri-cor has worked for me over the years. she said come back for my general checkup Oct 1 and recheck the triglycerides.

i can't wait that long. i felt like crap all weekend and drank margaritas on my BD to burn it out. that worked and an ambien last night assured my sleep.(i roll and feel worse if i don't sleep)

i have regular bowel movement again and nightly i have been taking 2 tums before i go to sleep. i have never had acid indegestion before  cept a coupla times. but it is creeping up now.

i don't think it's my heart as i get regular checkups. the doc doesn't think so either. she said (it could be) either the gall bladder or the (other organ near there---name??)

so what i'm asking here is what do you think it is? what is the next test i need? i'm asking as i DON'T have insurance so i need to save my money or find the cheapest solution---to my ailment. thansk for your help. BC

ok, saw the doc. waited almost an hour (very relaxed) and my blood pressure was like 140/90. heard no alarm over that. did another urine test and the kidneys are great she says. (BTW, a very nice Asian lady Doctor bought my regular(male) Doctors practice. he's much older and still works there but partime). I'm a male by the way and have no problem with female doctors.

i usually do a yearly checkup Oct 1 and get a flu shot. she suggested i move that up to next week if possible. mainly to concentrate on the prostate exam and the PSA. and also a metabolic blood test? and a globulin blood test for a white blood cell count. i told her maybe their count might be up trying to fight off something when i get that "Fluish" feeling? she said possibly. she also said we'll check the thyroid. it's been off "slightly" before but i quit taking those meds because my insurance ran out. i have a slight elevation in my blood sugar, she threw around a diabetic test. anyway, i'm thinking of throwing in an EKG but she wasen't worried about that.

i was thinking about the gastrointestinal issue again. i don't really have stomach acid attacks (never in my life). but of late with this illness, i do have a flu feeling in the afternoon(take an ibuprofin) and at midnight again before i go to bed. (i take another ibuprofin and my ambien). where i have to go to bed because my energy is zapped. unable to sit up at my desk here. this had been the scenario for over 3 weeks now. anyway, gonna run everything AGAIN--by the doctor tomorrow. thx all, BC

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Low backache and high triglycerides are not connected. If you have pain all over the abdomen, then it could be due to gas caused by IBS or Crohn’s, or celiac disease, any food intolerance or flatulence caused by abnormal liver function as you have. This gas can give you a backache. You will need to consult a gastroenterologist for this.
Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks, caffeine, and spicy food. Walking around also helps clear gas.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

thanks sylvia, but as i stated my urine tests came out negative on the kidneys. though i have had kidney stone attacks 4 times in my life.

i haven't done a lot of types of exercises or work to pull anything but i have twisted around at odd angles to grab stuff outa my reach. still, not enough to get sore.

i have little burning pains on both hips and around the left and right side of my heart area. but not a heartattack. AND an overall flu-ish feeling....

i will get a coupla more comments before i reveal an older surgery i had years ago. don't wanna confuse things or bring it into the equasion yet...
thanks

I am 60 and have had pain that seemed to move around mid section and up my chest and sometimes it is so bad I have slight difficulty in breathing. Examinations showed a muscle pull. It responded to anti-inflamatory drugs like Diclofenac and hot massages. The hot water bottle helps. I have arthritis and had had pains in some rib joints before so the explanation is that when the rib joints are inflammed and you breath in, the inflamed joints prevent the chest from expanding and that has an effect on the big chest muscles located in the rib cage. This causes intense pain. Mine sometimes takes about 3 weeks to clear. Since they have checked you and there is no kidney infection I will try the massages and heat treatment and see if it has any impact. You may need someone to do the massaging. But tell me, after the antibiotics did they do a urine culture to be very sure that you do not have an infection in the kidney? You may want to do that to be sure your kidney is safe of any infection. A bacteria resistant to the anti-biotic given you will not be healed and will keep recurring. I hope I have been helpful in some way. Sylvia
