vaginal pain

ive been having pain inside my vagina on the right side for a while now. it comes and goes.. and it goes down the inside of my right thigh. i had been experiencing pelvic and lower back pain on the right side also but i went to a doctor and they had found small cysts on both of my ovaries and went ahead and treated me for pid just incase. ive been tested for chlamydia and gonorrhea and both of the tests came back negative, so i dont think the pain has to do with stds. im just afraid of what could be causing the pain. i dont think its cancer, or atleast i hope not, seeing that im only 17.  any idea what this could be?

Hello,

Without examination, confirming a diagnosis is tough but the various possibilities for your symptoms are infections(esp bacterial vaginosis),trauma, allergies, muscle strain of the inner thigh muscles, urinary infections and sciatica(pain due to the compression of the sciatic nerve).

Apply warm compresses on the inside of the thish and take some anti-inflammatory pain killer like ibuprofen. Also do some stretching exercises and yoga and maintain a correct upright posture while sitting.

If still the symptoms persist, then the above possibilities have to be probed. In that case,an examination by a gynecologist will be the best.

I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted if you have any additional queries. Kind regards.
