UPDATE SINCE MY LAST POSTING IN 2008

Had been in and out of different hospitals with a High RA Factor, neurological pain and discomfort, etc. Tests came out abnormal for peripheal neuropathy and autonomic neuropathy. Sick as a dog for 3 very long years. I asked the doctors from the very beginning to PLEASE give me a Lymes test since I started out with familiar feelings of it. I had it twice before. Finally my rhuematologist gave me the test and it came out positive. Seems like I have chronic lymes and it reactivated. But I don't understand why absolutely NO doctor would give me that test yet they game me respeated very expensive tests every month. I was put on a PICC line for the month of Jan.2010 for daily antibiotic IV therapy. When that was done, my RA Factor went up. I just started Plaquinil about one week ago. I also take 600mg of Gabapentin(Neurontin) 3 times p/day. Now the doctors are saying that I don't have RA but I do have autoimmune issues that was triggered by the lymes., i.e. Inflammatory arthritis, crohnes disease, inflammation of my CNS, skin and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis(autoimmune disease of the Thyroid). I also have Candida in my blood. On a strict diet that leaves me with very little food to choose from. I'm also on an anti-imflammatory diet which has worked very well. I'm starting an anti fungal medicine in a couple weeks. My ESR was always lost until recently.
Here's hoping!
Be well everyone!

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
High levels of rheumatoid factor can be found in severe rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), scleroderma, Sjögren's syndrome, and vasculitis, infections like Hepatitis-C, chronic diseases like tuberculosis, mononucleosis, syphilis, and malaria, leukemia, liver disorders and endocarditis.
So if the RA factor is still found to be high, further tests will need to be carried out. ESR too should be repeated.
It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
