worrying pain in mid back

Please someone help. Had back pain in middle of back to the left just under shoulder blade. I stopped going to gym 3 weeks ago cos the pain was too bad. Went to doctor said it was muscle and nerve damage. I should mention that I had similar pain in the area about two years ago which actually caused restricted movement in my neck. Passed after 7 weeks of agony. I had x-ray which was normal, been back to Doctors saying I can't stick the pain and worry any more. Told me to stop worrying and give it time.I also have short stabbing pain in my spine from under the shoulder blade to top of neck. This comes and goes. I have been kind of stressed out the last couple of months. Should also add that I feel great in myself apart from this horrible pain. It is now aching across the very top of my shoulders on both sides as I am writing this on the computer. Please someone give me an answer. Im really worried.

Hi just to say I have had this type of pain in same areas. I haven,t found cause as yet, I find the neck pain hardest to deal with as this is almost constant. Have previously had hydro-cortisone injections which helped a great deal for about four months.  I find hot baths/showers help short term.  All the best.

Hi

Thanks for the post.

The pain that you mention could be due to a herniated disc at the lower cervical level. A “stabbing pain in my spine from under the shoulder blade to top of neck” is mainly due to a compression or irritation of the cervical nerve, usually C-6. I think you should consult an orthopedic doctor and maybe get a MRI done.

It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining and tests to confirm it. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted.
