yellow tongue

About a month ago i stared noticing clusters of white spots all across my upper lip. next my lips started crusting over and flaking off every morning and the odd time waking up with a sticky film on my lips. most recently i've noticed white bumps on the side of my mouth near the back (one or two) that kind of come and go.. also my tongue has a thick yellow coating when i wake up and is thicker at the back and my taste buds seem swollen. i feel like im producing an above normal amount of saliva as well.. I used to smoke a lot of marijuana but quit about a month ago i still smoke the odd cigarette. I also had unprotected oral sex with a pretty questionable girl a few months ago.. i got a blood test and urine test done for stds which came back negative.. i read that hepatitis can cause yellow tongue would that have been checked in my std test.. also i have had a lot of anxiety lately.. does anyone know what would be causing these symptoms i find it weird that i would be experiencing all of these symptoms at the same time and have nothing be seriously wrong

Well good thing is you've had your tests done for an STD which since it came back negative we can rule out any possible dirty things like that!

First off, you should go see your Dr about it. Not because there's anything 'serious' but there could be something laying there.

Common causes that you might link to:

Bad dental Hygene
Drinking a lot of coffe / tea
Smoking
Poor Diet
Dehydration

If your tongue is EXTREMELY yellow, then it might be stomach related which you really should get checked out.

I'm not a DR by the way, just offering a little few facts to you!

If you can't see a Dr try the following:

Drink a large glass of water when you wake up and before bed
Brush your teeth Twice a day
Use mouth wash after ever meal / smoke you have ( no more than 4 times a day though, may irritate your motuh )
Floss any crap out of your teeth
Use vaseline on your lips to add moisture.

honestly, I get a yellow tongue all the time since my dental hygene was awful when i was younger. and my lips are dry every day fromnot drinking enough

now go book an appointment
come back and let me know how it goes x

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Whit/yellow coat on tongue can be due to food, fungal infection or due to dryness. Repeated acid reflux can also be a cause. If sucking on a hard candy removes it then it must just be old food debris. Fungal infection and acid reflux related white coat will persist. You could also have developed Vit B deficiency, low iron or even allergy to something.
The best thing would be to consult a general practitioner or PCP and try and assess what is the cause of your problem. Then proper referral for concerned specialist can take things further and get you proper treatment. Take care!

With white bumps in your mouth and your lips peeling, it could be thrush.  Went through the same thing as a result of my immune system being compromised due to a recent surgery.  Can be healed with a prescription mouth wash that you use several times a day for up to four days.  Good luck with it.

I had the white bumps and yellow tongue also and found out i had a yeast infection in my mouth. I'm not saying that you have the same thing but its something to possibly think about.
