Painful groin area several days after a cardiac catherization

by Mel420, Feb 11, 2007 12:00AM
I had a cardiac catherization 10 days ago and my doctor used the Perclose Procedure (stitches) to close the femoral artery access site.  This is my 3rd catherization in approx. 19 months: one resulted in a stent placement in LAD and only angioplasty in a med branch off the LAD; the second catherization resulted in angioplasty again to the branch off the LAD which had previously been opened; this last time no blockages.  After the first two procedures the femoral artery was closed by pressure.  I healed well and had minimal soreness.

This time the site looks great, however, I have pain in the area of the incision so bad that I am unable to put all my weight on my right leg and it is painful to try to lift the leg with no assistance.  At first I thought this might be soreness from scar tissue and stitches and now it is getting worse.  Should I be concerned?  What could possibly be wrong?  Should I call my cardiologist office tomorrow?

Please advise, my instincts say that this is definately not normal.
Thank you!
