higher upper right stomach pain

higher upper right stomach pain

I have had upper right pain in my stomach off and on for about4 months.  I have had blood work and a complete ultrasound of my upper and lower area.  They did not see anything unusua.  I have been on Nexium for 2 months now.  The buring pain is still there. Now, when I touch there, it seems to hurt.  Almost like a sore muscle would be if you work out.  I am at a loss as to my next step. I have had bowel changes over the past year..not unusual color though. Just consistency. I have always had IBS symptoms in the past and present.  The burning pain is really my main complaint...

Everything you said about GERDS is mone hundred percent on the money, however, for my two cents, the most common cause of GERDS is "floor living". Do not touch a bite of food within two hours of lying down, drink plenty of fluids, and NEVER eat in bed, or just before goihg to bed. Upper right quadrant pain is also often associated with gall bladder inflammation, which in turn is often associated with a drinking problem. I do not mean to contradict any of the excellent advice provided. Peace to all.

Absolutely, I agree with you!  Alcohol abuse can lead to gall bladder inflammation (cholecystitis) which manifests as right upper abdominal pain.  Drinking plenty of liquids helps, but after you've eaten your solids.  Eating close to bedtime doesn't give you a chance to digest and more of a chance to regurgitate up into your esophagus where it would hurt.
