Hey there, for a while now I've been having a weird discoloration in my urine where its a dark yellow and extremely cloudy. I've seen a doctor before and he said there was to much calcium in my urine.. I would like to know how my urine has calcium and why after a year and a half after checking its still cloudy. Also lately now its been starting to smell of tuna fish and I'm noticing I have to urinate very often now.  I'm really starting to get worried... Can someone please give me an explaination and advice on what to do?

Hi,
Several conditions can cause too much calcium in urine like hyperparathyroidism, idiopathic hypercalciuria, Kidney failure, renal tubular acidosis, and sarcoidosis. Diet, bacterial digestion of certain foods in the intestine, fistula between the bladder and the intestine, diabetes mellitus etc can cause fishy odor in the urine. Cloudy urine and increased frequency of urine can be due to urinary tract infection, bladder infection, stones in the kidney or diabetes mellitus .Seek medical help. A clinical examination and tests like urine microscopy and test for presence of urine sugar may be needed. Treatment will depend on the cause. Hope it helps.
Take care and good luck!
