Urethral Dilatation

I have one week ago, had a Urethral dilatation performed in a  hospital, by a urologist.  The reason for this procedure was that I had consistent inflammation in my urethra which would not heal by itself, so my doctor informed me that this procedure would open up the urethra allowing it to heal.

My question is this.  After one week since this procedure, why am I still having a great amount of pain and difficulty passing my urine?   I have had this procedure done in the past, fifteen years ago, and felt instant relief on voiding, within a day or two of the procedure.
