small vagina, pain

by Marg55, Oct 18, 2008 09:14PM
I am a 53 yr old femaile that had an abdominal hystorectomy about 10 yrs ago. In March 2008 I had an abdominal rectocele/cystocele/and vaginal prolapse repair. Now ever since the surgery my husband and I of 35 yrs can't have intercourse because my vagina is to small. Even my husband can tell that he can't penetate all the way or he will hit the top of my vagina. My husband can penetrate to the top of my vagina then he has to stopw hich is not all the extension of his penis. It hurts when he hits to top of my vagina. I never had this problem before the surgergy. What should I do? Everytime I go to this doctor at each exam he rams his finger up my vagina very hard. I'm scared and it hurts. I see him again on this Thursday. Please help me!

I have had similar repairs but vaginally in 2007. I am now 55.  The first time it did hurt and by the 3rd time it was fine.  But the question to ask your doctor is whether they preserved your vaginal length?  Also, I have read that other women who have had pain during intercourse have bought a dildo and have practiced with it and gradually were able to have intercourse without pain.  I am not sure if this is your problem or that shortenened you too much but I think you can probably also go to a physical therapist for this problem.  I did go to learn how to do kiegels and they have all kinds of tools to measure your muscle response.  Also, be generous with  your lubricant and the funny thing is thet the therapist gave me the best tip.  You will never imagine what makes a great lubricant.  It is Alboline makeup remover moisterizing cream.  It is great.  It cost about 11 bucks a large jar and is unscented.  Good luck to you.
