After urination bladder does not feel empty

Dr. Hoyte,
I'm writing as a concerned husband. My wife has been in pain since 8/8/08. It all started with a visit to her GYN Doctor for her annual routine check up. A urinalysis was done. It indicated an infection. She was prescribed antibiotics. Cippro was the first one prescribed. That didn't work. Needless to say thre other antibiotics were prescribed. None of them worked nor was a culture grown from any of the urinalysis. On her last vist back to her GYN Doc they did an ultrasound since her condition had not improved. From the ultrasound results she was sent for an IVP, STAT. The IVP showed some swelling in the left kidney but no stones. We were then referred to an Urologist. He orderd a Cysto. He felt that she presented with a stone. The Cysto failed to find a stone. The Cysto left her in more pain and she ended up being admitted to the Hospital from outpatient sugery. The Urologist sent us back to our attending physician. he ordered a CAT Scan. The CAT Scan showed very little if any swelling in the kidney, the bladder was smooth and no stones. She did have a Mangioma on her liver and what they thought may be a mass on the bladder wall. With those results we were referred back to the Urologist with the Radiologist recommending a Cysto, which we just completed a few days earlier. We went over the results with the Urologist. He explained that what the radiologist saw was swelling. He recommended we wait another week and if the pain and discomfort were still ther he would suggest putting a stint in which may relieve the bladder fron swelling by draining the kidney of urine more effectively. We weny back a weel later to the Urologist and decided not to go the stent route. My wife and I thought that it may cause he more pain. The Urologist agreed and ordered a MRI. We would appreciate your opinion or any additional ideas that you may have.

Best Regards,
Mark
