rectal proplase

I had this surgery 12-2006 and the same thing has fallen again. I take fiber and other laxatives because it feels like my bottom is full of it. sometimes I will have diarhea and get my hemorrids inflame for about 3 days, then it goes back to be consipated again and everything feels like it there and can't come out. Feels like I always have to go. Is there anything else for this problem<

I had a rectopexy from a colorectal surgery in Dec 2006, before that I had a hystery with the same problem, then a ur dr. packed the lining, then i had the rectopexy surgery. It took all the others thing before getting to the problem, but it just camed back within 2 months. I really don't want to get cut on again but i know i will always have this trouble.is there anything could be done, they told my strap the lining to my back.

Hi,
I am wondering exactly what the original problem was. Was it a rectocele (i.e., a falling down of the back wall of the vagina) ? or was it a falling out of the rectum through the anus? Each has a different fix. If it was a rectocele that you had repaired, the repair is not supposed to fail if it was done correctly. A failure is not usually caused by diet, although I ask my patients not to do heavy lifting ( over 5 lbs) for 6 weeks after the procedure. If the failure did occur after a rectocele repair, then you might look at having an abdominal sacralcolpopexy performed by a fellowship trained urogynecologist or pelvic surgeon. If the problem was a rectal protrusion through the anus, then you might need to have the rectum pulled back up via an abdominal incision. THis is called a rectopexy, and is usually performed by a colorectal surgeon, preferrably fellowship trained.

Either way, these solutions are supposed to be permanent, and you should be able to return to your usual life activities.

Dr. Hoyte.

yes I feel the same way. all day i feel like i have to go but just a little and still full. after standing all day it is worse. i got off the fiber because i was having diarhea then constipate again. it's a losing battle i believe. my rectal dr. never mention sacral colopoexy to me.

no, I had a rectocele repair in 06, and now I ahve asmall one again.  I can have a bowel movemnet in the morning, but after that it feels like it is stuck up there and wont come down.  It is worse when I am on my feet all day.  How about you?  The surgery the uro gyn says is sacral colopoexy, just pulling up the vagina.  I am worried that this will not solve all my problems.

Thanks, I was wondering if they did a rectopexy, puuled to rectum up also?  And to all with this problem.  When I use a suppository to help relieve the stool, afterwards I get horrible rectal pain.  Is this becasue the rectum has fallen, or prolapsed?  I have a rectocele too.
