In looking at your description of events, it sounds like your daughter developed urinary frequency (having to go void a lot), possibly because she was retaining large amounts of urine in her bladder. This suggests either an underactive bladder muscle, or a stricture (narrowing) of the urethra (urine tube).
However, I am not sure why she would develop a urethral stricture at this point in life. Did she have any injuries to the area? e.g., straddle injury? Did she have any surgery to the area? DOes she have any neurological disease or problems?
The other possibility may be that she holds her pelvic floor muscles very tightly, and is unable to relax them sufficiently to void normally. She may benefit from a full bladder workup (urodynamic testing) to help answer these important questions.
Hi... I was wondering if you could help me...
I have had a urethral dilation about 1month ago... Is it okay 2 have sex... Nd if my boyfriend gives oral 2 me is dat ok or not... I am really worried...
she may have been born with an urethral stricture....did she have any urine infections as a baby or toddler? i would also ask for urodynamic tests.....has she ever had kidney or bladder tests done?
No, she had no traumas and is otherwise a very healthy girl. I myself have asked why this would occur and cannot get an answer. But, in retrospect, this may have started when she was younger and I just didint put it together. When she was 5 she would have random accidents and would say that she didnt have enough time to make it to the restroom. That happened a few times between the ages of 6-7 then in the 2nd grade she wet herself in class four times in 3 months. We saw our family physician but he really didnt offer any help. He checked for a bladder infection and when he found nothing he stated that she was just holding it to long. We didnt start seeing a urologist until last year and he tried everything prior to checking the urethra. Then when he finally checked her he was certain that was the problem. And, once he performed the surgery in Jan of 2006 every symptom dissappeared and we have had no problems until now.
She did see the urologist again today and he dilated her urethra. He stated it had narrowed again to a 12 and he opened it to a 20. I guess I am looking for an answer as to why this happens and if we should be looking for a cause prior to just dilating her. I would like to prevent this if it is possible.
