Hi,
Burning and redness around the urethra for 1 week, together with low back pain. If you are sexually active, consider also the possibility of other STDs in addition to Herpes. Get an evaluation by a gynecologist, to include cervical cultures, and a test for yeast, and trichomonads, and make sure your doctor did a urine culture (it takes about 3 days to get the result), and this was negative.
Sometimes, if everything else is negative in terms of tests, then I will prescribe a course of a medication called doxycycline for 2 weeks to address the possibility of a low level urethral infection not detected by the cultures...

There is a bacterial infection that is called ureaplasma, that can cause those symptoms. It doesnt show on regular urine cultures, you need it sent out specificaly for that, but a lot of people have it and some develop symptoms from it. Certain antibiotics clear it up! Just a thought to look into! Good luck!
