Post BCG Bleeding

In April 2009 I was diagnosed with bladder cancer and had a T.U.R. done. The cancer was stage T1, high grade. I have had two BCG treatments to date. For the second, the technician had difficulty getting the catheter past my tightened prostate. Immediately after the second treatment and 2 hours of BCG soaking, I had a lot of blood with clotting in my urine for 8 hours. At first, I was urinating every 5 minutes. Is this a normal side effect with BCG treatment? Where does this blood come from? I am a 68 year old male.
