Penile Cancer

by Lepapl, Apr 22, 2007 12:00AM
I have been quite afraid lately.  In February, I noticed a small, slightly raised and colorless (clear, I suppose) spot on the glans of my penis.  I thought nothing of it as it inflicted no pain.  I became curious though, researching what it could possibly be.  I found that it sounded remarkably similar to the beginning stage of penis cancer.  This is incredibly frightening to me.  I am only in high school and have never had any sexual contact so it can't be a genital wart (unless there is a strain of warts that can effect the genitals without sexual contact) or any other STD.  I am uncircumcized, which I have heard increases the risk factor, but my young age seems to conflict with the norm for this sort of cancer.  I post here first because I have recently gone to the doctor twice about my penis (I have a mild case of pearly penis papules and were afraid they were something else).  Could this new spot I have possibly be a mere fordyce's spot that sprung up in an odd place?  Or does this indeed sound like penile cancer?  Thank you for your time doctor.

By the way, this past week, for two days, I had an odd sort of pain (maybe this was blue balls, ha) at the underside of my penis where it attaches to my testicles, if this could have any sort of signifigance.  I'm sure this was nothing though as it lasted only a few days.

Penile cancers are usually wart like  or ulcerative lesions on the penis. They may begin as colorless flat lesions on the glans. Usually they occur after the age of 50-60. They are associated with poor hygiene ( rare in circumcised men) and human papilloma virus infections.

The only way to diagnose is a biopsy. However based on your age, it is very unlikely that you have a penile cancer.
