Time taken for biopsy report

Dr,
My mother-in-law is detacted with lamp in breast, Dr. performed open biopsy and we got report in 24 hrs.
which say consistent with grade II, Moderatly differentiated invasive ductal cardinoma breast. IHC awaited.
but poeple say that it is not possible to get report in 24 hrs.
please advice.

It is possible to read pathology immediately, and in some instances the type of cancer can be determined.  Usually, the tissue is then stained and processed anyways which takes a few days and a confirmatory reading by the pathologist will be reported.
