What exactly is follicular cyctitis

I had a cystoscopy and the path result was follicular cyctitis. My urologist found 9 "polyps" which he removed for biopsy. I will see him next month but am curious now as to how the polyps were formed in my bladder. I have no idea of the size, but they were located on the top wall of my bladder.

Follicular cystitis is a non-cancerous response to chronic inflammation of the bladder. It is characterized by small nodules (polyps) due to the infilatration of lymphocytes (white blood cells).  A potassium sensitivity test may be the next step for you performed by a urologist.  Pentosan polysulfate sodium and dimethyl sulfoxide are approved for the treatment of chronic cystitis and may help in your case if you are having any urinary symptoms.  You may want to discuss if these medications can be applied to you.
