testicular cancer or calcium

I am 37 years old. In 2002 I was having pain in my groin/abdomen so my doctor ordered a ultrasound on my testicles. The film showed a small white mass they diagnosed as a calcium deposit. Now in 2008 I was still having pain so I started going back to the doctor. This time when they did an ultrasound on my testicles they stated the mass was cancer so they removed my testicle. The tests were positive for cancer. My question is can a calcium deposit form into a cancer or was it probably cancer all along? I do not remember if they tested my blood or not in 2002.

This is a difficult question to answer, and one that probably does not have an answer.  Most testicular cancers have a "typical" appearance on ultrasound, with or without calcium deposits.  Many men/boys can have calcium in the testis known as "microlithiasis" that is not cancerous.  Most important is that you know now, and have a treatment plan with your doctors.
