21yr. old son with foley cathater and mucus in urine

hi my question is what is this white floating mucus looking stuff in my sons urine, he has had utis in the past and is currently on Levoquin for 1 week to fight off another one. His urine in almost clear, he drinks alot of fluid everyday, but still this white floating stuff. He has no fever and complains of no stomach tenderness or issues. The urine doesn't have a strong smell either. Could this be the bladder trying to fight off the infection. Please help I am so confused and I am running out of money for dr. visits for him. He had an accident back on Oct. 5th of 2009 that caused spinal injury and tramatic brain injury and he had no health insurance.

I too have the same problem. I have had a catheter in for nearly 2 years now and have had mucus floating in the urine. There is enough to make the tubing of the bedside bag turn white.
I have had enough infections to know that I don't have an infection at this time.
I have no answers as to why I seem to have the mucus.

Hi,
The white cloudy mucus discharge in the urine is possibly due to the UTI only and he’s taking the right treatment for the same and should continue with the same and also drink plenty of fluids as he’s doing right now. Hopefully, everything should be fine gradually. The Foley catheter is the biggest risk for the development of the UTI. Hence, the chances of getting the recurrent UTI will significantly decrease once the Foley catheter is removed. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
