Abnormal urine test

Abnormal urine test

I had blood and protein detected in a urine sample.  There are no other side effects and it not visiable in the urine.  Can this be caused by the drug Phentermine?  What are the most common reasons for this, and should I be concerned?

Blood and protein in the urine can be caused by a variety of conditions - including infection, kidney stones, bladder cancer, diabetes, intrinsic kidney disease - amongst others.

A cystoscopy can be considered to evaluate the blood - as well as a workup for kidney stones.  The protein can be quantified using a 24-hr urine collection.  Blood tests can also be considered to evaluate the kidney function.

Although possible, I am not aware of Phentermine leading to these findings.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
