Dear Monique,
MotrinIbuprofen overdose
Motrin
Motrin childrens
Motrin childrens cold
Motrin cold and flu
Motrin ib
Motrin ib sinus
Motrin infant drops
Motrin junior strength
Motrin migraine pain belongs to the category of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents that includes
aspirinAspirin
Aspirin adult low strength
Aspirin child chewable
Aspirin children's cherry
Aspirin children's orange
Aspirin ec lo-dose
Aspirin enteric coated
Aspirin lite coat
Aspirin litecoat
Aspirin low dose
Aspirin low strength,
naprosyn, indocin and sulindac to name a few. These agents act to inhibit the production of chemicals called prostaglandins which cause pain. However, these medications have the potential side effect of decreasing blood flow to the kidneys which can lead to kidney damage.
In your case, I would recommend that you decrease the amount of Motrin you are taking or switch to a different type of medicine. The fact that you have hypertension and a solitary kidney together is a potentially serious combination . You should see a nephrologist to assess the cause of your high blood pressure and joint pain. You may have a serious medical condition such as glomerulonephritis, or systemic lupus erythematosis that you should be treated medically. For now, stop taking the motrin and see a nephrologist.
