Artificial urinary sphincter

1 year ago I had DaVinci robotic removal of my cancerous prostate. The good news is that my PSA is non-detectable. The bad news is that I have a continuing severe incontinence problem (1- 1 1/2 cups of urine per day).
The implantation of a artificial urinary sphincter is scheduled in one week. However, in reading various internet based information it appears that the LIFE EXPECTANCY OF THE MECHANICAL DEVICE MAY BE LIMITED TO LESS THAN 10 YEARS. At 71 years of age does that mean I will have to undergo general surgery several more times (assuming I live into my late 80s like most of my family members)? Is this type of general surgery at 80 high high risk?
