Dear Kelly,
It sounds like your pediatric urologist has done the
correctCorrect (new formula) work-up to rule out any serious disease processes. There is a
commonCommon cold condition known as urethrorrhagia, that a has similar presentation to your description. This condition is defined as
urethralAcute bilateral obstructive uropathy
Cystitis - noninfectious
Prostate removal
Urethral discharge culture
Urethral stricture bleeding associated with
dysuriaUrination - painful occurring in boys. Urine culture is negative, and the characteristic symptom is “ blood spotting on the undershorts”. The symptoms and bleeding occur in intervals and may persist for years. Treatment with lose dose long term antibiotics , although not scientifically indicated, may help, but not always. Urethrorrhagia is benign and self-limited condition. Usually reassurance by the urologist is the principle mode of therapy.
