Bactrim question

Bactrim question

I'm a 43-year-old white male being treated for bladder cancer and recently had my quarterly cysto. The biopsies were negative and they gave me some Cipro. But I came down with a UTI anyway and my doc gave me some bactrim to clear it up. Then I noticed a dime-sized red area on my meatus and a smaller one on the shaft of the penis. This happened before in June under similar circumstances. Any idea what this red area could be? It isn't painful, no discharge. A thin layer of skin peeling is all and just deep red, almost purple. The first time it went away in about a week. Could it be related to the Bactrim? My wife and I have been trying hard to get pregnant. Could it be friction-related? I have some red sunburned areas on my face, the result of being in the sun too much while on bactrim.
BTW, I've been monogamous since 1998.
Just wondering here. Any advice you can give is appreciated. My urologist is a good man, I'm happy with his care and seem to be holding my own in the bladder cancer thing. But I'm really not willing to discuss this concern with him yet.
I really appreciate having this forum and you taking the time to answer questions here. It helps a lot.

Although possible, I am not aware of Bactrim leading to the symptoms you have described.

Dermatitis caused by friction, a fungal infection, or an STD/urethritis are all possible.

You can obtain a urinalyis and urine culture to evaluate for infection.  A urethral swab can be done to evaluate for STDs.

If dermatitis is suspected, a steroid cream can be considered.  An antifungal cream can be given if fungal infections are suspected.

These options can be discussed with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
