Black Ring and Redness on penis

by Veryscard, Nov 11, 2004 12:00AM
Hi Doc,
I have been diagnosed with Bluepharitis, and was given Tobradex (tobramcin and dexamethasone ophthalmic ointment) and I also had rash between eyebrows, and on face. I was given minocycline 50 mg (14 pills). This all was about 2 months ago. To be honest none of it worked. I am the same as before. I have looked on the on web, and also believe I also have Fordyce's spots on my upper lip. This was just an overview to my real problem as maybe this all is related somehow. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed small bumps at the base of my penis, tiny white ones. Then over the course of the last 2 weeks so many things have changed rapidly. My penis got very dark, I got more white bumps. (I thought that maybe it was Fordyce's spots on my penis.) Then around my foreskin my it got totally almost black ring of bumps around the entire penis. It was just around where I was circumcised only. I also then noticed that the white bumps were around the foreskin and on my scrotum. Veins got larger and more pronounced. The head of my penis went to a gray color then to a present dark purple. I also got a 3 bigger bumps on the under part of my penis right where the circumcision starts on the top part right in the middle of the shaft. Then I about 3 days ago I got some mild pain in my testicle (left), every once in awhile, and I also noticed a long red line with bumps in-between my leg and scrotum about 3 inches long on my left side. I also have pain in top part of my left thigh. My scrotum hurts, and it also seems to hang different. Meaning its drawn in, like my left testicle is being sucked up into my body. It seems like its dried up looking, when before it was full looking and it seems like the skin is streached looking like longer then where my testicles hang. The pain in my testicle seems to be pulling up into my body on the left. My scrotum is red and very dark red. The pain in my left testicle is now consent and so is the pain in my left upper thigh by the hip as of today. Also today, I noticed that there is 2 more black rings forming on my penis like the first one only thinner. It looks like a ratcoons tail. I have pain urinating. I have not had sexual relations for 3 years so I know that's not the problem. To be honest I don't know which doctor I should see, a demonologist or a urologist? Should I go to emergency care right away as it might take a week or so for a doctor visit? If I can wait for the doctor visit for a week or so, is there any over the counter stuff I can get at the local store to help out right now? I have been drinking straight cranberry juice as I have heard that helps clean out the prostrate. Please Please give me your very best detailed advise as I am really scared and worried. THANKS VERY MUCH!

I can't make any recommendations as to what to do next without seeing you.  I suggest discussing this with your personal physician as to whether to go to the emergency room or not.

STDs should certainly be tested for.  Any bumps on the penis can be indicative of herpes - blood tests as well as viral cultures can be done for further evaluation.  A urine test looking for a UTI as well as STDs such as gonorrhea or chlamydia should certainly be done.

Regarding the scrotal discomfort, I would consider an ultrasound to evaluate for any evidence of torsion or inflammation that may be causing the symptoms.

I would see a urologist for further evaluation.  Again, the decision whether to go to the emergency room should be made with your personal physician, not this forum.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
