Bladder/Urethra Necrosis

by robocoop, Nov 15, 2008 11:22AM
I have undergone radiation therapy for prostate cancer.  Recently, I was diagnosed with a hole at the bladder neck.  My doctors advise that I will probably need a Suprapubic Tube or Illeal conduit urinary diversion.  They advise that, due to the necrosis in the area, there is no other alternative.  Are there other therapy options that wouldn't result in a catheter and allow me to utilize my bladder and urethra the way nature intended?  I can't quite get myself to believe that in this era of stem cell research and tissue patches, there is not a better way to solve my problem?
