Bladder problem

by kcyp, Nov 18, 2006 12:00AM
I had a bladder infection and had an allergic reaction to three antibiotics that were given to me. I had spasms in my colon and bladder. After getting very weak I was hospitalized and they found I had gastroenteritis.  I am on Nexium and improving but my bladder is still not normal.  When I have to urinate I feel pressure in my vagina and my urine feels acidic.  Do you have any suggestions?

Difficult to say without evaluation.

Further evaluation of the bladder can be considered with a cystoscopy and urodynamic studies.  This can evaluate for any anatomical causes, as well as functional bladder diseases that can lead to spasms.

Imaging with an ultrasound or CT scan can be considered.

If the initial tests remain negative, a potassium sensitivity test can be considered to look for interstitial cystitis.

A referral to a urologist is recommended.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
