Followup with the urologist should definitively be done. Possible causes can be recurrance of the cancer, infection, kidney disease, or bladder lesions or a mass.
If there is any doubt, I would see a physician as soon as possible to ensure there isn't an excessive loss of blood.
Workup would include a cystoscopy as well as tests to ensure the prostate cancer isn't responsible for the symptoms. A kidney ultrasound can also be considered.
