Blood In Semen / Erection Concerns

by Scooterman, Oct 31, 2003 12:00AM
I am a 52 year old in very good health who has had prostate problems since the age of 23.  Prostate infections seem to come very often but were cared for quickly with medications.  About five years ago I started having problems with an erection. Sex was always something my partner seemed to feel was a chore and it seemed that my mind started to say to me what,s the use  this really isn`t any fun and things just didn`t seem to respond anymore.  Self pleasure by means of masterbation (masturbation) was and is never a problem. About the same time I started to notice blood in the semen and this really killed the mood!  Over the years I have visited four doctors and specialist. Prostatitis is always the diagnosis. Stress and hard physical work has also been mentioned as a possible cause. My PSA has never been any more than 1 or less with every physical which  I receive every six months along with the rectal exam. Ihave also been scoped through the penis and had an ultrasound through the rectum to rule out any other problems. I have been put on antibiotics for no more than 30 days at a time. It seems that many of the prescriptions you mention go for four to twelve weeks. This past year I started to take medication FLOWMAX which has helped me urinate much easier. I also take 10MG of Zetia for cholesteral and Toprol 50MG for blood pressure. Vitamins are also a part of my daily diet.  My last check up was very good, prostate exam was normal and PSA was .08. So why the continuation of blood in the semen.  After ejaculation I also have some discomfort in the rectum area for a few hours. Throughout all this time I have never felt sick or unable to go at the pace I enjoy working at.   Is it possible that being denied sexual relief years ago when the desire was so strong with my partner that blood vessels can weaken causing them to bleed very easy at my age with strain or stress. What effects do you think the meds I`m on have on any of this. Thank you for your time.

This seems like a repeat of the question below.

Thanks,
