Hello - thanks for asking your question.

There are several considerations.  Blood in the semen can be caused by benign and malignant disorders of the prostate gland, seminal vesicles, spermatic cord, and ejaculatory duct system; urogenital infections; metastatic cancers; and vascular disorders.  It normally resolves on its own, but should be evaluated.

Blood in the urine is more concerning.  Infection, prostate, bladder, kidney cancers, kidney disorders (i.e. stones), prostatic hypertrophy should all be considered.

Because of your age (>50), I would recommend a cystoscopy and urine cytology to make sure there is no cancer.  A kidney ultrasound would evaluate for kidney etiologies.

A referral to a urologist is highly recommended.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
