Blood in urine for 7 months

My husband has had blood in his urine for 7 months now, since January 2008 he has had catscans (3), ultrasounds (1), cystoscopys (6), etc. and they cannot find where this blood is coming from.  He recently had a surgery to fix his varicolceles in both testicles.  He had his post-op and the doctor confirmed everything was ok and he could resume normal activity and go back to work, well last night into today was his first day back (mind you, the whole time he was recovering he had no blood in his urine) and he called me to say his urine was pure blood!  The doctors seemed to be puzzled as the where this blood is coming from.......  Any ideas, suggestions????  HELP!!

Hi thanks for the comment, i am going to print this and take it with us to the doctors..... my husband does not take any blood thinners, nor any aspirin...they tested him for sickle cell, they did a hep screening, etc... right before his surgery they scoped him becasue he urinated blood right before and they found nothing.... the doctor did tell me that while he was in there he did find a stone..... also his liver functions were extremely elevated before surgery... they came down and he was cleared for surgery....his BP was elevated at one point and that also came down

Hi

We have to rule out a bleeding problem here caused by bleeding disorders which may involve blood clotting mechanisms in the body. Does your husband take aspirin, coumadin or warfarin? Platelet count, INR, PT and aPTT may be determined to help rule out any underlying disorders. Other differentials are inflammatory disorders of the kidneys. Glomerulonephritis may be considered here if bleeding presents with no other associated symptoms. Blood pressure levels and cholesterol levels have to be measured to rule out nephritic and nephrotic syndromes. A kidney biopsy may be indicated if bleeding is noted to be caused by kidney disease. A hemogram which shows characteristics of these blood vessels will be helpful. This may identify if the kidneys are a source of the bleeding.
