Blood in urine

Hi I am wondering if anyone has any info on this. My husband has been having small stains in his underwear blood small brown spots mixed with urine. It has been going on for a few months now. We didn't think anything of it becuase he was not having pain we were thinking at that time maybe it was darker urine. When we looked at his shorts last night because he said he dribbled after he urinated so it promted him to look. their was a stain a brownish stain mixed with urine stained on his underwear enough to notice that it is blood. He has no pain and it was not caused by sex since we had not had sex for the last 4 days before this happened. He has continued to have a dribbling problem for a while but the blood thing has only come about the last couple of months. What is causing this? He is going to the doctor tomorrow to get checked out. Has anyone had this problem before? He thinks he is fine and their is nothing wrong but something is wrong or he would not be having this problem. Help.

Blood in urine is also called hematuria. When the blood in the urine is at the beginning of urination, it most likely comes from the urethra, (the tube from the bladder to the outside). Blood throughout urination is most likely from the bladder or kidneys or ureters (the tubes connecting the kidneys and the bladder). Brownish blood in urine can be due to old blood or bleeding from distant site like the ureters or kidneys.

Diagnostic tests that may be performed include Urinalysis, Urine culture, X-rays of the kidneys, Cystoscopy, IVP, Abdominal ultrasound and CT scan of the abdomen. Please consult a urologist for this.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. There may be a prostate issue going on as well, it is good that your husband is going to the dr right away. It does sound like there is blood in the urine (that would be the brown color), if you don't get any answers from your primary physician, your husband should see a urologist who could address prostate, kidney or whatever else might be causing this problem. The important thing is he is heading to the dr. I'm going to have administration forward this post to urology (this is the Urogynecology forum for pelvic organ prolapse related issues), someone there should be able to guide you more specifically.

It sounds like your husband might have kidney stones, I'd go get that checked out. My dad had them a few years ago and they were so bad that he had to get them surgically removed because they were so big that there was no way for him to pass them. I hope that everything turns out ok with your husband, and hope this helps.
