Bright Red sore

Hi Doctor,
I have a Bright red sore looking spot on the side of my penis just below the head, It is about the size of a pencil eraser and about .5-1 MM raised .  It does not hurt or bother , it just looks very sore- which it is not.  I have been to my regular MD we have ruled out warts and other std's, he has told me not to bother, it will go away. That was 6-8 weeks ago, he has prescibed first .1% gentamicin, then Fucidin 2%,  My questions are do I need a steriod?  What is this problem????
Is it contagious??  Do I need a Urologist or Dermitoligist?  I have some pics on my profile.  It seems when I use my penis, sex etc. it is most red then.  Please help.

Not seeing this, I cannot make much of a diagnosis. However, a non-healing lesion is worthy of biopsy which can easily be done either by a dermatologist or urologist under local anesthesia.
