Bump or bruise on glans

by mike347, Sep 14, 2009 02:16AM
Hello,

I noticed a small spot on my glans about 2-3 months ago. It was slightly darker than the color of my glans. I am uncurcumcised. I got really scared because the spot didn't go away on its own and visited a urologist. He said it looked like I had just caused trauma to the area; he pinched my urethra and the area around it and said it was fine. I thought it was penile cancer because of stuff I read online, but he said he said that wasnt it and that he has never heard of penile cancer in someone of my age. I am 20 years old and a virgin so it cant be an STD right?

I visited two general physicians, both who said it wasnt anything serious and would go away on its own. I also visited a dermatologist who looked at it and said not to worry and told me to put zinc oxide cream on my glans because the area was sensitive. This was 2 weeks ago. I have been doing this and have not really seen an improvement. The spots have gotten slightly bigger, though I can't confirm that I might just be paranoid.

When I visited the docs, my penis was always flaccid; but I noticed that when I am erect, I can see 2-3 small raised bumps. The spots are less noticeable when erect. If I had to describe the side of the spots size, I would say about 1/6 of an inch in diameter. They are to the right side of the urethra opening only (my right when I look down).

There was never any pain; but recently (past 2 days) my penis has been really sensitive, especially around my urethra. The urethra looks more red than usual. I don't know if this is from masturbation or what, because I don' do it that often and I almost always use lotion.

I am really nervous because the slight stinging pain wasn't really there before and its now a little bit noticeable to the touch. I am scared its penile cancer even though everyone has told me its very unlikely. My father had kidney cancer and had a kidney removed, so I don't know if that makes me at risk...but I am a vegetarian, 20 years old, 5 ft 11 and 165 pounds in good physical shape. I drink alcohol occasionally, but I don't smoke (I have only smoked 1 cigarette in my life...). The doc said my risk factors make it very unlikely, but I could really use more advice. I am supposed to see the dermatologist again in a week or two...but any advice now would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi I too have a couple of spots on the glans and have asked three different urologists about this. All of them said that it was like a mole and that there is nothing to worry about.
I guess that you are worried about it but you stated that you are younger. I started getting this spot at about 39, I'm now 45.
I hope that this will put your mind at ease.

All the best.

Ron
