I can't give any recommendations without an evaluation.
If an STD or urethritis is present, broader spectrum antibiotics would be needed.
Prostatitis is also a possibility, and can lead to the symptoms in the pubic area. A digital rectal exam as well as a prostatic massage would be needed. If prostatitis is present, extended courses of antibiotics would be needed.
These options can be discussed with a urologist, or with your personal physician. I cannot comment on whether it can wait without evaluation.
