I am stuck in Kosova with less than third world standards and need some advice. I am coming back to the US in 2 weeks and will immediately go to a urologist. My concern is can I wait that long? In December I began to get a tingling in tip of penis, it was non painful but annoying. It came and went. After a few weeks I started to get a burning sensation after urination or sex (NEVER DURING) always after. I went to DR. They did a swab for Chlamydia and urine sample for UTI,came back negative. But they gave me Erythromycin for 7 days. Symptoms subsided but still came and went intermittently. About 4 weeks ago the symptoms cam back , burning at the tip (after urinating) and the symptoms progressively became worse, the burning feeling occurred inside the penis and not just at the tip. Now I have urgent feelings to urinate and general pain in the entire pubic area. My urine also smells a little funny.
Question, I think I have either non specific urethritis or prostitias. I would like to start a course of antibiotics, but am worried that it will disguise the symptoms when I arrive in the US in 10 days. I will only be their for 10 days and I want the lab to be able to run tests. On the other hand I feel like the condition is spreading and would like to start the antibiotics right away. Any thoughts? Also, I hae no fever or any other symtoms then those listed here.

I can't give any recommendations without an evaluation.
If an STD or urethritis is present, broader spectrum antibiotics would be needed.
Prostatitis is also a possibility, and can lead to the symptoms in the pubic area. A digital rectal exam as well as a prostatic massage would be needed. If prostatitis is present, extended courses of antibiotics would be needed.
These options can be discussed with a urologist, or with your personal physician. I cannot comment on whether it can wait without evaluation.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
