Cipro

Any positive feedback on taking Cipro? Diagnosed with bladder infection. Took first dose this morning. Scared to take second after reading all bad stuff. The only thing I feel is a little tingly in arm and hand.

Hi,

May I ask you what sort of side effects did you experience?
If any, I have ended up with digestive problems, however I'm not sure if Cipro is to blame. Any long term use of antibiotics cause porblems. In my case it has presented itself in the form of yeast infections. Very difficult to get under control, however it would have happened with another antibiotic as well.

One antibiotic that really effected me was Flagyl. I was being treated for a strep B infection of my left testicle, as it had become necrotic. I nearly died from it and had no choice but use the Flagyl. I have a neurological condition to which Flagyl does damage to the meyline of the nervous system.

Without the use of Cipro or Flagyl, I most likely would have died. I have been on Cipro since about 1993-1994 and still use it on occasions where I end up with a UTI, or kidney infection. Since I have a permanent catheter, I'm more prone to infections.

As much as I give credit to Cranberry juice or pills, as well as drinking lots of water, it does not prevent any infections nor does it cure infections, or at least not in my case. I mentioned drinking water as certain liquids are not good either. Two most often used are coffee and tea. In a case of an infection we should stay away from any drinks with cafeine in it. Therefore water is the best choice.

All the best,

Ron

Sorry to hear your doctor Rx'd that for you. I had a UTI twice last year. the ER doc gave me cipro. Wish I would have known then what I know now. Had bad side effects for over a year from it. My belief now is that most UTI's can be cleared up by taking cranberry pills, and flushing out your system with large amounts of fluids. Don't take a drug that is given out for people who have been exposed to anthrax... sigh. Unless you need a drug to stay alive don't take any because our bodies were not made to take them. My thoughts anyway.

Hi,

I have problems with UTI and kidney infections on a regular basis. I have been on Cipro on and off since 1994. Cipro has allways worked very well for me. I have not experienced side effects from this drug. I have had other antibiotics prescribed to me that did have some negative side effects. In my case Sulfa drugs causes hives.

From 1994 up to 2003, I used to come down with UTI and kidney infections that required hospitalizations with a frequency of about every 3 to 4 months. Most of the time, if I recognized it fast enough, Cipro would clear things up and prevent things from getting worse.

I hope that the Cipro will do the job for you and that you will be able to put this infection behind you soon.

All the best.

Ron
