In 1997 my Dr. found a complex cyst on my right upper kidney 5cm. We watched it for about 5 years then I gave up. Last October another MRI was done on my kidney and bladder. Then they found that my complex cyst had grown to 8cm and there are other cysts growing around it. Now i am totally incontinent and self catheter every 4 hours. My new urologist did a cystoscopy and found several diverticulum in my bladder. I am waiting to have a urodynamics/w needles done for all the results. When I cathetarize, I do not get any urine, just crystals. I also have M.S.. I am very concerned! I have had a lot of pain in my right side for 2 1/2 years now. The Dr's. first removed my appendix saying that it was quite infected(3-25-2005). The pain never went away. 6 months later(11-11-2005) I was bent over in pain so badly I could hardly walk. This time, I was told it was my gallbladder, so they remove that. The pain is still there. Should I be patient and wait for all the other results or should I keep worrying? Thank You!!! ( I feel like I just vented!!!! That feels better)

Cysts that normally require treatment (i.e. a procedure) are normally in the 5 to 20cm range. If you are having symptoms from this, I would inquire about treating the cyst.
This can include percutaneous aspiration of the cyst with a sclerosing agent, or larparoscopic unroofing of the cyst.
If the cyst is infected, appropriate antibiotic therapy should be considered.
These options should be discussed with your urologist - or in conjunction with a second opinion if necessary.
Followup with your personal physician is essential.
