Delayed Puberty!

Well im 19 years old now and still have not gone through puberty yet. I was always told that I would grow and it was just a matter of time, but now I feel I have to do something. I am about 5'11 200 pounds and I look like I am 16 years old. My penis and testicles really dont show any signs of enlargement. They have stayed the same size for as long as I can remember.I have hair on my face that stops around the lip area not really having visible beard hair. I dont have much body hair at all, my legs have hair but are not very visible, my arms are the same, and my underarms really dont reseamble anything that a regular male would have. I am a little overweight for my height and my chest looks more like a girls chest then a mans.

I have put this off for way to long and have to do something right away because this problem has lead me to be very shy around people and I tend to avoid conversation as much as possible. This has really put my love life on hold due to everytime I get serious with a girl I end up cutting it off do to my problem. I am in college now and think about dropping out just so I dont have to deal with the shock of people finding out how old I am and the stares I get when I walk into a room of people my age that look like there 19.

I am willing to do anything to fix this problem. But, my question is were do I go? How do I start? What do I have? What doctor should I be looking for? Is there any hope for getting my life back togeather? If I start now can I ever catch up to at least looking like people my age?

A referral to an endocrinologist can be considered.

Tests for the LH, testosterone, prolactin, and thyroid levels can be considered.  Imaging studies can include a head MRI to evaluate for pituitary tumors, and a testicular ultrasound to look for any masses.

Delayed puberty can be treated appropriately with testosterone therapy once diagnosed.

These initial tests should be discussed with your personal physician, and I would recommend an endocrinology referral.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
